The Green Ball is Australia’s first Green Carpet Event - a glamorous celebration of sustainable food, fashion and fun, created by Melbourne’s own sustainable events company, Grassroots Productions.

The Green BallThis new exciting, not to be missed event takes place Saturday 23rd of February 2013, as part of the Sustainable Living Festival calendar. The Green Ball will be held in one of Melbourne’s best kept venue secrets - a stunning bluestone heritage building overlooking the Maribyrnong River, quietly nestled amongst the lush wetlands of Pipemakers Park. This unique venue also offers picturesque views towards Flemington Racecourse and the city, a mere 6km from the CBD.

For that extra special experience, travel to the Green Ball in style with VIP ferry transfers from Southbank, including refreshments onboard.

Bus services will also be available to and from CBD train stops. Contact for details.

Event Features
Event-goers will experience an enticing sustainable menu of local organic food inspired by the recipes from Sustainable Table's recipe books The Sustainable Table and Seasonal Regional, while enjoying live performances from unique Melbourne outfits Deep Street Soul, ten piece funk orchestra The Cactus Channel, and unique vocal group The Nymphs.

The Green Ball also features a showcase of inspired eco and vintage fashion, plus competitions, prizes and giveaways for best dressed sustainable outfits judged by well known bloggers and personalities in vintage, sustainable and ethical fashion.

We recommend travelling to the venue on public transport, via the ferry or bus service if possible.

By Car:
There is parking for 75 cars on site. From Rosamond Rd turn onto Aquatic Drive. From Raleigh Rd turn
down Van Ness Ave. Turn into Pipemakers Park at the roundabout from all directions including from Gordon Street. Melway 28 B8 .

By Public Transport:
Take the 57 City - West Maribyrnong Tram to Van Ness Av/ Raleigh Rd Stop and change to the 82 Tram (to Stop 51 and follow walking directions below) or walk down Van Ness Av to Pipemakers Park.
Take the 82 Mooney Ponds tram to Highpoint from Footscray station. Get off at Stop 51 (Williamson Road /Maribrynong Aquatic Centre near Max Brenners) and walk 3 minutes down Aquatic Drive till you reach the roundabout. Enter Pipemakers Park and walk down the main path till you reach the bluestone building ‘Living Museum Of The West’ as seen below.
There is also a bridge across the river from the Ascot Vale recreation reserve.

By Ferry

By Bus

There will be a bus service available to and from the event departing from Southern Cross station and returning to Southern Cross Station. Contact the Green Ball team to arrange your booking.


For those needing accomodation we recommend the award winning green Alto Hotel. Alto's
location is ideal with a short walk to Southbank (approx 8 minutes) or 100m to Southern Cross for bus transfer. Alternately take any Tram from directly outside Alto to Elizabeth Street and change to 57 tram which stops approx 400 meters from The Bluestone Building Pipemakers Park.
